How I handle your data.

I use PostHog, an analytics service hosted in the United States, to understand which pages are useful: pages viewed, buttons and links clicked, where on a page people click and scroll (in aggregate), rough location (your city or country, estimated from your IP address), device and browser type, and page performance. When you send the contact form, I also count that it happened and which topic you picked.

Until you make a choice in the analytics banner, nothing is stored on your device and each page view is anonymous. If you accept, a small identifier is stored so I can tell that your visits belong to the same person. If you decline, analytics turns off completely and stays off on every future visit.

If you accept, PostHog also records a replay of your visit: a reconstruction of the pages as you saw them, with your clicks and scrolling, so I can watch where the site helps and where it confuses. Replays only ever start after you accept, never before. Anything you type into a form is masked and does not appear in a replay, and replays are deleted after 30 days.

There is no advertising or cross-site tracking of any kind on this site.

When you write to me, your name, email, topic, and message go three places: a notification lands in my inbox, a copy is saved to my lead list so nothing falls through the cracks, and you get a short confirmation email. That's the whole trip. I reply personally and you will never be added to a newsletter or mailing list.

Like most modern websites, this one is built on a few specialist services. Analytics events go to PostHog (United States). Contact-form submissions are stored in Airtable (United States) and delivered by Resend (United States). The site itself runs on Vercel (United States), which keeps standard server logs. My mailbox is Zoho Mail on its Canadian data centre, so the actual correspondence stays in Canada.

Information held by the US services is subject to US law while it sits there, which can include access by US courts and authorities. I keep what those services hold to the minimum the site needs to function.

Analytics events are retained in PostHog for up to seven years. Lead records stay in my list while there's a live conversation or a real business reason to keep them, and email sits in my mailbox like any correspondence. Ask me to delete what I hold about you and I will.

If you feel I've handled your information badly and we can't resolve it together, you can raise it with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
